Is Today Really the Day?
I have been considering starting a blog for some time now. Some time, meaning…at least a year. But, the idea of starting a blog is daunting, because I’ve learned (over, and over, and over) that consistency is key.
Can I be consistent though? Honestly, the answer is no. Consistency and my writing don’t tend to go hand in hand these days. Consistency and reading…that’s a yes. So, if anything, you can count on me to read, review, and be anywhere from semi-consistent to not at all consistent.
The Wordly Traveler is the name I give myself for this adventure into blogging.
It was either this, or some pun about how I hide in books under the ruse of escaping into new worlds. Either way, I’m traveling…either out of my own head, away from writing, far from the frustrations of parenting, or simply because I want to.
I love reading. I love writing. And I love living in the world of books with my other lovely writing and reading friends.
If you know me, you know I am an advocate for positive reviews.
I believe in uplifting authors through positive reviews, sharing and promoting their stories, and acknowledging that each story has an audience just waiting to discover it.
Just because a book is written, doesn’t mean it’s for me. But if I read it, I will write a review. The review will discuss only positive aspects of the book. The rating will be high (because I couldn’t live with myself if I gave any book a low rating).
If I think a book is worth sharing widely, I’ll expand on the review here on Substack, and on my website. Again, here’s where I mention the consistency thing…I’m consistently inconsistent. So, I know that I won’t have the stamina to post every review I write in a blog post. But every review I write can be found on Goodreads and Fable.
Aside from reviews, I have opinions and advice.
Those of you who know me also know that I love to share my two cents. For those of you who don’t know me, I am also very transparent about how my advice is not gospel. Take it or leave it. In the end, it’s your life, your reading, your writing…or whatever.
Obviously, I’d love for this to become something.

I have a hope that I’ll be able to uplift authors, and not only share their work, but share the amazing humans they are.
And I have a hope that I’ll be able to deliver meaningful content about writing and the publishing world for writers, and for readers who are curious.
